The Salvage Culture Project is relaunching August 2025
The Salvage Culture Project
Is a circular economy catalyst for the Northern Rivers, NSW.  We have access to a space in the Byron Community College (Mullumbimby Campus predominantly) where we host opportunities for:

Both Budding and Experienced Upcyclers:

to come and access waste materials we have collected from local businesses.  Most materials are available for free in sample volumes.  We want upcyclers to play with the materials and come up with interesting and valued product prototypes so together our efforts find solutions for problem waste streams destined for landfill.
to bring along any upcycled items the maker would like us to try to sell in our Work-shop or our travelling Salvage Culture stall.  This can be a good way to test the market.  Makers either allow Salvage Culture to take a cut of the sale price or volunteer to help run stalls to ensure minimal overheads.

To see when the Work-shop space is open check the website here.

To be on the right side of history, you can…

support and grow the circular economy by:

following and sharing the Salvage Culture Project on Insta;
buying from Salvage Culture, other local upcyclers or – last resort – , off the shelf products that have recycled content rather than buying similar products that are:

made using only virgin materials.
made by people who could be being exploited – only when their bosses bottom is hit will they change their business model.
Adopt the mindset that cheap usually means short cuts have been taken.  Usually the environment or the workers or both have taken the hit so consumers get “great value”, “lower prices are just the beginning”, “down, down, prices are down”.  All these slogans tell you these businesses number 1 goal is to pay people as little as possible and pay as little as possible to protect the environment so the cost at the end of the day to the consumer is as low as it can be.   Be Better.  Buy Better.

REUSE the materials that already exist because WE CAN’T RECYCLE OUR PLANET.
